Rome, March 17, 2021 -
British customs have announced the delaying of the application of the effects of the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union concerning the following procedures:

Customs Procedures
• The option of using the delay custom declaration system has been extended until the 1st of January 2022, except for goods subject to UK control (*including the additional declarations submissions up to six months after the importation of the goods).
Safety and security requirements on imports will not be required until the 1st of January 2022 .
Sanitary and phytosanitary products (SPS):
Pre-notification requirements for products of animal origin (POAO), certain animal by-products (ABP) and high-risk non-animal origin foods (HRFNAO) will not be required until the 1st of October 2021. export health certificate for POAO and some ABPs will come into effect on the same date.
• SPS physical checks for POAO, some ABP and HRFNAO will not be required until the 1st of Jenuary 2022. They will then take place at border checkpoints
• SPS physical checks on high-risk facilities will take place at border checkpoints, from the 1st of Jenuary 2022.
• Pre-notification requirements and documentary checks (* including phytosanitary certificates) will be required for low-risk plants and plant products and introduced from the 1st of January 2022.
• From March 2022, checks will take place at border checkpoints on live animals, plants and low-risk plant products.
