They bring a new perspective. An opportunity to pause, observe our work from the outside, and perhaps discover something new about ourselves.<\/p><p>That\u2019s what happened with Helena, a Spanish student who came to Italy for an Erasmus internship with our team.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-aba590d elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"aba590d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f86f565 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f86f565\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">First impressions: language, environment, novelty<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42249e9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"42249e9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>&#8220;<em>On my first day, I was struck by the new environment and by the chance to communicate straight away in Italian. It was great to challenge myself with the language in a real professional context<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><p>For those of us working in <strong>logistics<\/strong> every day\u2014among routes, schedules, calls and documents\u2014it\u2019s easy to take the system that makes everything work for granted.<br \/>Having someone observing with fresh eyes\u2014and speaking a language different from their own\u2014reminded us that every task and every process can be an opportunity for <strong>learning<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e3a5788 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"e3a5788\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e33b169 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e33b169\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Learning through observation<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-14fbe09 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"14fbe09\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>During her placement, Helena worked across several departments: she took part in the daily activities of our <strong>operations team<\/strong>, supported <strong>customs and administration<\/strong>, helped with <strong>Spanish-speaking clients<\/strong>\u00a0and collaborated with the <strong>marketing team<\/strong> on concrete tasks and projects.<\/p><p>\u201c<em>Even through simple tasks, I was able to observe internal dynamics and reflect on different ways of approaching day-to-day work. Sometimes you learn just by watching how others work<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><p>We share this idea deeply: real experience grows through attention, listening, patience, and mutual trust.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6e60e5c elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"6e60e5c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b9834bc elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b9834bc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Similarities and differences across cultures<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8ad0830 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8ad0830\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u201c<em>In general, I found the way of working quite similar between Spain and Italy. Of course, every workplace has its own peculiarities, but it was interesting to see how\u2014even with different approaches\u2014you reach the same goals<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><p>Cultural exchange doesn\u2019t always require contrasts. Sometimes it\u2019s in the small things: how time is managed, how emails are written, how breaks are taken.<br \/>These details also helped us reflect on the way we communicate and collaborate as a team.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-45fd410 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"45fd410\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f9e6df6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f9e6df6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Being helpful, feeling part of the team<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-585ddab elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"585ddab\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u201c<em>I enjoyed helping colleagues with Spanish-speaking clients, and I really appreciated the weeks I spent in the marketing department, where I was involved in various tasks and had the chance to contribute with my ideas<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><p>Having someone on <strong>placement<\/strong> isn\u2019t just about \u201ctraining\u201d: it means creating the conditions for that person to feel part of a <strong>shared journey<\/strong>, even for a short time.<br \/>It was great to see how Helena took part with simplicity and genuine presence.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d4e1326 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"d4e1326\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b1a80d2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b1a80d2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">An opportunity beyond the company<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5431179 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5431179\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u201c<em>I would recommend living this experience with openness and curiosity, even when things don\u2019t go exactly as expected. Living and working in another country is a unique opportunity for personal growth<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><p>Programmes like <strong>Erasmus<\/strong> are valuable for companies too: they help build more <strong>open<\/strong>, <strong>collaborative<\/strong> and <strong>stimulating<\/strong> environments.<br \/>And they remind us that <strong>logistics<\/strong> &#8211; especially <strong>food logistics<\/strong>, where <strong>precision<\/strong> and <strong>relationships<\/strong> are key\u2014depends on people, before systems.<\/p><p>When we asked Helena to describe Fresh Ways in three words, she answered:<\/p><h6><strong>Dynamic. Welcoming. Stimulating.<\/strong><\/h6><p>We see ourselves in those words. And we hope that when Helena returns to Spain, she takes with her not only new skills, but also a positive impression of our sector, our way of working, and the importance we give to shared
