Starting September 2026, Fresh Ways is activating an autonomous transport line dedicated to ambient transport, separated from fresh and frozen flows. A move designed to offer clients an even more specialized, efficient service tailored to ambient transportation needs.
Why a dedicated ambient line
Every year Fresh Ways manages and ships over 20,000 ambient pallets, roughly 11 full trucks a week and 10% of total volumes. Until now, these volumes travelled integrated within fresh flows – a solution that guaranteed continuity but didn’t fully unlock the specific needs of this segment.
Global demand for ambient transportation is growing strongly, with volumes now exceeding the cold chain segment. This is why Fresh Ways decided to move to an autonomous, optimized and scalable model.
Two dedicated hubs for the new line
The new ambient line is built with fully dedicated teams, partners and warehouses: a network of selected international carriers, qualified distributors and operational flows optimized from pickup to delivery.
Volumes will be managed across two strategic hubs:
– Cavenago hub (MI), dedicated to 25% of total network volumes
– Oppeano hub (VR), structured to handle the remaining 75% of flows
A gradual transition to the new line
To guarantee full service continuity and zero impact on clients’ supply chains, the rollout will proceed in phases:
– September 2026, launch of flows to the UK and Italy
– October 2026, activation of lines for Spain and Portugal
– November 2026, completion with France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands
By the end of 2026, all roughly 20,000 pallets of the network will be fully onboarded, with the new line running at full capacity from 2027.
A market where Fresh Ways is already well established
In the UK, Fresh Ways relies on a network of 26 strategic partners among local carriers and leading distributors, with over 410 companies regularly relying on the company to connect their production to the UK market, close to 70,000 pallets a year and over 26,000 total trips.
On the Iberian Peninsula, the network counts 20 strategic partners and over 400 regularly served companies, with close to 50,000 pallets a year and over 20,000 total trips.
The benefits of the new line
– Focused operations: shipments follow independent flows, with dedicated resources no longer subordinate to fresh-chain operational priorities.
– Maximum quality protection: products always travel at their ideal temperature, within a supply chain designed specifically for their preservation.
– More sustainable logistics: removing the need for temperature-controlled transport for these volumes reduces energy consumption, making the ambient supply chain inherently more efficient.
For clients who trust Fresh Ways with both fresh and ambient goods, the management of the two distinct flows will be defined with tailored solutions by the commercial team.
A personalized support path
Clients most involved in the transition will be followed individually by their account manager, through three structured steps: technical and operational coordination, tariff and commercial alignment, and definition of the go-live date on the new line.
